Al Qaeda lead Osama bin Laden is back at doing what he does best these days: issuing threats to the many people, places and things which threaten his world-view of Islam.
This time, he's threatened the European Union with "grave punishment" for the publication of the Danish cartoons, which he believes mock Islam's prophet Mohammad.
In an audio recording posted on the Internet coinciding with the birthday of Islam's founder, bin Laden said the drawings, considered offensive by Muslims, were part of a "new crusade" in which Pope Benedict was involved.
"Your publications of these drawings -- part of a new crusade in which the Pope of the Vatican had a significant role -- is a confirmation from you that the war continues," said the Saudi-born militant leader, addressing "those who are wise at the European Union".
You are "testing Muslims ... the answer will be what you shall see and not what you hear."
It is not known where bin Laden is issuing his threats from, but the al-Qaeda leader is known for not being shy with threatening words when he is powerless to bring about actions.
So apparently, he is impotent.
No jokes, please.
It was bin Laden's first message since November 29 when he urged Europe to end participation with U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

Where's Osama?
Every so often, the question arises of where the al-Qaeda leader has vanished to.
bin Laden's whereabouts were a mystery as far back as 1999.
Osama bin Laden, the Saudi millionaire accused by the United States of plotting bomb attacks on two U.S. embassies in Africa, has left Afghanistan, Afghan sources said Saturday.
People have been asking the "Where's Osama?" question for awhile now. The CIA would like to know.
The question has inspired some take-offs.
There's several versions of the popular "Where's Waldo?" children's game out--on the Internet anyway--featuring the man who murdered almost 3000 people on September 11 2001.

Some commentators say that Osama Bin Laden is dead; that he's food for the worms. Others point to the stream of threats and instructions he's issued via videotape.
Every time a new Bin Laden tape appears, the questions start again.

Given the political outlook of most Hollywood celebrities, Osama should be a star in a motion picture.

Many have speculated that Osama is sick and tied to a kidney dialysis machine somewhere in a cave in Pakistan.
That might be true.
Or he might be dead.
Or, he may be alive and in disguise, living in the Middle East.
Although, with a price of $50 million on his head, surely some enterprising youngster would set himself up for life--if they knew where he was.
At least one guy in the picture above has an idea for tracking bin Laden down in a hurry.
Although these pictures are amusing, the man they portray is not. However, it's said that one of the better ways to deal with stress is through humor.
So be it.
It's been 2372 days since September 11 2001. That's 6 years, 5 months, 29 days, including today.
2372 days since 2998 people from over 80 countries lost their lives.
Most of them were Americans.
Where's Osama?
It would be satisfying to know.
If he's found, his fate will most likely be anything but humorous.

Websites supporting al-Qaida have rained down insults and invective on Al-Jazeera, many times a dependable source for the distribution of their viewpoint. Thousands of insults have been posted blasting the TV station, which centers around providing news with a pan-Arab point of view.

Al-Qaida sympathizers have unleashed a torrent of anger against Al-Jazeera television, accusing it of misrepresenting Osama bin Laden's latest audiotape by airing excerpts in which he criticizes mistakes by insurgents in Iraq.
Users of a leading Islamic militant Web forum posted thousands of insults against the pan-Arab station for focusing on excerpts in which bin Laden criticizes insurgents, including his followers.
Analysts said the reaction highlighted militants' surprise at bin Laden's words, and their dismay at the deep divisions among al-Qaida and other Iraqi militants that he appeared to be trying to heal.

The recording aired Monday contained unusually strong criticism of insurgents in Iraq from bin Laden, who urges them to admit mistakes and unify. Bin Laden even aknowledges that he advises himself not to be "fanatical" in his stances.
"Some of you have been lax in one duty, which is to unite your ranks," bin Laden said. "Beware of division ... Muslims are waiting for you to gather under a single banner to champion righteousness. Be keen to oblige with this duty."
"I advise myself, Muslims in general and brothers in al-Qaida everywhere to avoid extremism among men and groups," he said.
The tape was met with a cautiously positive response from at least one insurgent coalition that has been opposed to al-Qaida.
But the Al-Fajr Media Center, which usually posts al-Qaida video and audio tapes on the Web, accused Al-Jazeera of "counterfeiting the facts" by making the speech appear as exclusively critical of insurgents.
"Al-Jazeera directors have shamefully chosen to back the Crusaders' side, and the defenders of hypocrites and the thugs and traitors of Iraq," Al-Fajr said in a statement posted on several Islamic Web sites.
