Stirring the John Edwards Cover-up Pot
DBKP is not the only one stirring the John Edwards affair and cover-up pot. Others are adding in tasty bits which have all the makings of a rich, filling scandal stew.
Deceiver has not only a complete coverage of who's saying what, it also is adding to the impressive collection its own "Rielle Hunter Film Library".
You’ve seen her star turn opposite Denzel Washington in Ricochet. You’ve thrilled to her bikini-clad dancin’ in Overboard. Now TMZ has unearthed what may be Rielle’s finest moment onscreen: Her 2002 appearance on the Game Show Network’s Lingo! (If only To Tell the Truth hadn’t gone off the air…) Introducing herself to host Chuck Woolery, Rielle claimed to be “a writer” and added, “I also do a lot of yoga and chant. Mostly about how Elizabeth Edwards is a total bitch.” Okay, I might have thrown in that last part. No word yet on how much she won, but it couldn’t be nearly as much as she’s getting from this latest game.
Rush Limbaugh gave DBKP a shout out Wednesday on his show!
LBG's "John Edwards Affair: Dr. Strangelove, the “Favorite” Film Edwards Never Saw" caught the attention of El Rushbo and he used it as a modern-day parable. From Rush Limbaugh.com: Story #2: A Shining Example of the Breck Girl's Phoniness
RUSH: A fascinating story today on a blog called Death by 1,000 Paper Cuts. This story, I think, is a microcosm by the Democrat Party and their willing accomplices in the Drive-By Media. Let me just share the details with you. In August of 2004, John Edwards, the Breck Girl, participated on a program the Turner Classics Movie channel, and they are doing a series, Party Political and the Movies. This aired in 2004. And what these political personalities, people, were asked to do by Turner Classic Movies was to pick their all-time favorite movie and explain why. So Edwards picked Dr. Strangelove. "I believe that one of the messages Stanley Kubrick was trying to send was putting this kind of power and this potential Holocaust in the hands of human beings no matter who they are is an extraordinarily dangerous thing."
Well, here's the thing. Edwards had never seen the movie. Edwards had never seen Dr. Strangelove when he picked it, and the next element of the story is that he didn't even pick it, is his wife Elizabeth did.
Rush then quotes from LBG's story and emails started coming into the mailbox from well-wishers alerting us to the EIB notice. [Note: Thanksx100 to IC at KG3 and Snoop at PPP for the audio clips of the broadcast. We were busy on a story and missed it live!]
PJ Gladnick, of NewsBusters, lauded our coverage of the John Edwards-Fred Baron travel records in Edwards Scandal: Blogosphere Leads Investigation That MSM Neglects.
As NewsBusters editor Matthew Sheffield recently wrote, the John Edwards scandal demonstrates why the public is moving to the Web for news. A big reason for the public relying more and more on the Web for news is that the blogosphere is willing to do the investigative footwork that the mainstream media often neglects. A perfect illustration of this are the revelations made today by the DBKP blog about the suspicious aircraft leasing arrangements made by John Edwards' moneyman, Fred Baron:
The entire article is worth the price of admission, but some of the comments that follow the article could have very well been written by sheepish MSM reporters trying out spin at NewsBusters what they practiced around the water cooler--when they should have been out investigating the myriad threads of what's turning into the madcap cover-up of Edwards, et.al. (Yeah, I know it's a long sentence--but it's late, or early.)
A thousand thanks to Gladnick and NewsBusters: sometimes you feel like you write in a vacuum. Pieces, such as PJ Gladnick's, (as well as the response of readers) assure you that that vacuum only has power around the MSM.
Frank Nedelkoff, The New Nixon, notices another of the ever-growing collection of coincidences that have popped up in the John Edwards scandal(which Nedelkoff labels "Riellegate") at almost every turn.
I’ll point out once again that, when it comes to coincidences, I’m still intrigued by the fact that the Center For Promise And Opportunity, the well-funded nonprofit foundation set up by Edwards ostensibly to fund a mammoth scholarship program for poor students across the nation, abruptly went out of business (along with the scholarships it sponsored at the single high school where it manifested concrete results) a week or so before Rielle Hunter fled to St. Croix (a place with easy air access to various discreet financial institutions) and the former vice-presidential nominee went on ABC to confess his “liason.” Whither went its assets?
While Fred Baron may not exactly be an idiot savant in the memory department (if readers remember Baron responding to the questions of the NY Times), Nedelkoff reports that Baron will likely remember where he's to be next week: the Democrat Convention in Denver.
Update: the blog of the Dallas Morning News reports that although John Edwards seems to be skipping the Democratic convention next week, Fred Baron will continue his 20-year tradition of attending it. The post also quotes an Obama campaign source as denying that Baron is involved with planning events for the campaign in Colorado, as had been previously reported.
Need a quick non-Edwards break? The Morning Scramble goes around the Net in five minutes--or less.
AND
Political Party Poop has the scoop on Obama: Obama the same today as yesterday (1995, that is) and The Incredible Disappearing Candidate.
Back to the Edwards scandal.
Doug Ross has an "Exclusive Photo: Denver offers haircuts for the homeless" that proves guess that "There's a John Edwards joke lurking somewhere in that story."
Radar reports that the "NYT Hot On Story Of John Edwards And The Mysterious Duke Graduate".
New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski is on a story. Serge, you'll remember, is the reporter who brought us the tale of Ashley Alexandra Dupré, the young working lady who consorted with former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. What's Serge up to?
Since December, DBKP heard plenty of whispers, buzz and other talk on this subject. When it came time to "name names", however, the only thing we (mostly) heard was [crickets].
Apparently, the NY Times is trying to out-hustle the National Enquirer--for once.
From Williamson Republic (TX), comes the story of "Maldonado Refuses to Give Up Money Associated With John Edwards Scandal's "Hush Money Man".
After a request by Williamson County Republican Party Chairman Bill Fairborther that HD 52 candidate democrat Diana Maldonado return money associated with John Edward’s “hush money man” Frederick Baron her campaign said that they will not be returning the money.
Baron has been at the center of controversy for paying what has been characterized as “hush money” to Edwards’ mistress and he has admitted to moving her into hiding.
There's more to this story at WR.
There's a LOT more, but two big developments await before 0600 EDT.
Stay tuned for more curious circumstances.

Explain this Away
Spam Attack came from barackobama.com
Were There More?
At least one of the attacks in the latest wave of blog shutdowns this past week came from IPs assigned to barackobama.com.
We have reported twice in the last two weeks about the attacks on anti-Obama websites. ["Google, Blogger, Obama: Obamanation Shut Down My Blog!"]] & [BabbaZee's "Anti-Obama Blogs Shut Down by Google, Obamabots"]
Speculation on who was behind the attacks has ranged from "Obama supporters" to "it's no one, just a glitch" "to it's a browser problem".
A few liberal blogs and Instapundit have said there is no connection between this latest wave of blog shutdowns and the Obama camp.
Speculation can now be set aside--at least, in one instance.
We came across this post by MacRanger at MacsMind [Macsmind Hacking UPDATE] yesterday, where Mac presents "one fact that can’t be explained away".
On July 22-25 Macsmind was DOS’d (Denial of Service) that originated from three IP addresses that are assigned to Barack Obama’s website. This isn’t a theory but was confirmed via law enforcement through an inspection of the site logs from those dates. The IP address in question; 66.39.4.254 66.39.143.229 216.146.206.181, are all registered via “Go Daddy” under the name barackobama.com.
On those dates, beginning at At 5:48PM Central on the 22nd, the hosted server that contained our site was hit by a 1.6 gigabyte flood of illegitimate traffic. The attacks never abated and only stopped when our host provider took us off line.
Spam traffic originating from three IPs assigned to the barackobama.com would seem to be compelling evidence to the disinterested reader. We haven't been able to reach MacRanger yet, but the real question isn't "Is the Obama camp involved in this?"
It's "Will this story be publicized?"
MacsMind finishes with
Speculation is one thing, but facts are another. This time however we’ve taken protective measures to prevent this from happening again. Additionally the investigation will continue and appropriate interstate authorities have been notified.
Texas Hill Country [] makes the comment, "Translation: People using computers at the Barack Obama Campaign are using them to systematically hack, attack and shut down websites that don’t agree with him. This is so messed up. It’s some Orewellian type business and it’s stuff like this that makes Obama scary as hell…"

As DBKP's Blogger site was locked down Thursday night by Blogger for being a spam site, we can attest that it was not a problem with our browser that prevented us from posting there for approximately 36 hours.
It wasn't a browser problem that caused the following message to appear when trying to post at our DBKP Blogger site.

Site Meter didn't post the two messages and lock down our blogs.
One question: "Did the spam messages that shut down DBKP@Blogger originate with the same IPs that shut down MacsMind?"
A second question: "Will Blogger and Google check?"
A final question: "If Google finds the attacks came from the IPs at barrackobama.com, will they let anyone know?"
We're not holding our breaths for answers to the last two.

"PIGMAN" and "INFIDEL" are Anti-PC Medicine
Talk about politically incorrect.
Artist BOSCH FAWTIN is working on his second anti-Jihad graphic novel, "Infidel". The artist, who previously introduced anti-jihadi hero "Pigman" in his novel "Table for One", is not your typical wishy-washy multiculturalist cartoonist.
The graphic novel will detail the adventures of Pigman, who is in reality, Howard Pork.
CORRECTIIONS/UPDATE: A few errors in this post. Let's clear them up before you read further. Bosch Fawstin's first book, Table for One doesn't take on Jihad and has nothing to do with The Infidel/Pigman, but it does take place in New York weeks after 9/11 in an underground restaurant, and it has some commentary on the attacks, but not much more. Pigman will debut in The Infidel. The hero of The Infidel, Killian Duke, is an ex-Muslim who creates the Pigman comic, which further pushes the conflict between him and his born again Muslim twin brother Salaam Duka. The 'Howard Pork' name is actually a pun about the nature of the main character, Killian Duke, being a Howard Roark type character of rock solid integrity. Roark being the hero of Ayn Rand's great novel The Fountainhead. The short line the author used to describe the book is 'Dirty Harry as a waiter.' Also, the t-shirt we quoted should have been written: 'War is Ugly, Jihad is Uglier, Time to get Ugly. PIGTIME!' Fawstin's point is that war is hell, but Jihad is worse, and that's truth. Okay, everything's fixed, read on! |

Fawstin opens his blog with an introduction of the artist and his work.
Welcome to my blog. I'm a cartoonist who's currently working on my second graphic novel, THE INFIDEL, about twin brothers whose Muslim background comes to the forefront of their lives on 9/11.
One responds by creating a counter-jihad superhero comic book called PIGMAN, as the other surrenders to Islam and follows it to wherever it leads him. So take a look around, share your thoughts, and if you want to reach me directly, or if you're interested in commissioning original artwork by me of my characters, etc., contact me. And if you're a publisher with the nerve to take this on, I'm all ears.

Fawstin has some telling quotes on his site. Euro-weenie political elites would do well to pay attention to our two favorites.

Fawstin's first graphic novel, "Table for One" is available now at Amazon.com. For anyone looking for killer graphics, it's a treasure trove.
Order "Table for One" from Amazon.

Fawstin also has Pigman T-shirts and graphic stickers available for sale.
If you want to be the talk of the next anti-Jihad cocktail party you go to, a "War is Ugly, War is Uglier, Time to get Ugly. PIGTIME!" T-shirt might just be what the anti-Jihadi doctor ordered.
Order Pigman and Infidel T-shirts and merchandise.

PIGMAN: The Icon against jihad. Pigman is a ruthless, counter-jihad superhero comic book created by an ex-Muslim cartoonist as a response to 9/11. It brings Pigman's creator face to face with the enemy in the form of his brother. From the upcoming graphic novel THE INFIDEL by Bosch Fawstin.

Bosch Fawstin Bio: Cartoonist whose debut graphic novel, Table for One , received the praise of Alex Toth and an Eisner Award nomination. Along with having this blog as a place where I can post my thoughts and have an online portfolio of my sketches & commission work, it's also the first place you'll find new images of my upcoming graphic novel, The Infidel, featuring Pigman, as they're created and posted here.

As you can see from the illustrations here, the powerful cartooning is anything but wishy-washy.

If you've had it up to here with multicultural apologists during these times of terror alerts, fatwas and calls for submission, the work of Bosch Fawstin is just the remedy.

Fawstin regularly updates his blog with images from the upcoming "Infidel" graphic novel, so repeat visits will yield the visitor new anti-Jihad pictures.

One of Fawstin's works might also make the perfect gift for that professor or friend who's always presenting reasons why 21st Western civilization is no match for the forces of a 7th century religion.

We're sure that Fawstin isn't a favorite in the Saudi kingdom and equally as sure that he's probably already been called all those favorite pejoratives that fall on those who beg to differ with the submission requests of the politically correct crowd.
For more graphics, Pigman merchandise, and updates on when the graphic novel, "The Infidel", will be available for sale and information on "The Infidel" featuring Pigman, visit Bosch Fawstin's The Infidel blog.
It is anti-PC,anti-jihad cartooning at its finest.

[NOTE: DBKP has examined the 'Megan Had it Coming' Blog and its last post, dated December 3, "I'm Lori Drew". We don't know who is behind the blog--Lori Drew or Internet troll.
However, we've asked Trench Reynolds, who has covered MySpace crime for the last eight years, to give us his opinion.
He makes some good points. Some we agree with, others: we're not so sure. But, he makes several of his points so persuasively, we thought you readers should get a chance to see them and decide for yourselves.]Hey everybody. My name is Trench Reynolds. Some of you may know me from my blogs about crime, TheTrenchcoat Chronicles and MyCrimeSpace. At the Chronicles I've been blogging since 2000 discussing school shootings and at MCS I talk about MySpace related crimes.
Mondoreb invited me to Death by 1,000 Papercuts (which is the greatest blog name ever) to express my thoughts on the Megan Meier story, specifically the 'Megan Had It Coming Blog'. As a lot of people have I've been following the story closely since it broke nationally. And just like most people I was horrified to read what happened to Megan Meier by people who were supposed to be adults.
When the identity of the Drews were made public by bloggers and commenters I decided that I would not post their names in hopes of not facilitating some kind of vigilante justice. Also I did not want to interfere with the investigation into whether or not criminal files would be charged.
It was after I made that post that someone posted a comment about 'MHIC'. It was also on that same post that someone by the name of 'ANONYMOUS' was leaving comments in defense of Lori Drew and was leaving comments similar to the posts on 'MHIC'.
I conferred with a blogging friend of mine who is a cybersecurity expert and we both agreed that ANONYMOUS and MHIC were the same person. Of course the Internet being what it is a lot of people automatically assumed that it must be Lori Drew without doing any investigation.
Now that's not a dig at DBKP because their own investigation seems to be thorough. However whenever a tragedy like this breaks there's always people willing to take advantage of the situation in order to get some attention. That's what I think is going on with MHIC.
Getting back to ANONYMOUS the e-mail address used to place the comments at MCS traced back to the MySpace of 16-year-old African-American girl from Michigan. It is possible that the address was a fake that coincidentally belonged to this girl's MySpace. However once I made that fact public the MySpace in question disappeared.
The second thing that leads me to believe that MHIC is a fake was the IP address of ANONYMOUS. Every time someone posts a comment at MCS I receive an e- mail that has their IP Address in it. IP addresses are used to trace back to someone's Internet Service Provider (ISP). Through this information I can usually ascertain the person's relative geographical location.
ANONYMOUS' ISP traced back to Louisville, KY which is roughly 260 miles from where the Drews and Meiers lived. IP addresses can be spoofed but if the person really wanted me to believe they were Lori Drew and had the knowledge on how to spoof IP addresses they probably would have made the address trace back to Missouri and not Kentucky.
Lastly, which may just be wishful thinking on my part, after everything that has be relayed in the media and on blogs I'd like to think that Lori Drew would not be that callous or stupid to entitle a blog 'Megan Had It Coming'.
Recently Lori Drew's lawyer said that she had nothing to do with the blog. Mondoreb himself poses the question if it's a hoax why is still up because of Google's imitation rules. My answer to that is I think it's not really a high priority for Google. Not only that if it was Lori Drew I think her lawyer would have advised her to take it down by now which can be done as easily as clicking on a button.
Since civil charges are likely against the Drews I think since the blog is still up that the odds are in favor of MHIC not being written by Lori Drew.
More than likely MHIC was posted by a group of people just looking for the attention and to see how many people they can get to fall for it. In the end I could be wrong but that would mean that Lori Drew is really that stupid and callous and if she is I weep for humanity.
So what do you think?
Is 'Megan Had It Coming' the work of Lori Drew?
Or an Internet troll?

Jack Banas, the St. Charles County prosecutor who announced that no charges would be filed over the Megan Meier Internet hoax, answered some questions yesterday about why no charges would be forthcoming.
But he did not put an end to all the questions in the public's mind. And he was not the only one who commented on the story yesterday.
---BREAKING:
Drew's Lawyer: Drew Knew, Didn't Stop It VIDEO REPORT
A blogger claiming to be Lori Drew posted "I'm Lori Drew" yesterday and engaged, for several hours in a running argument with readers who commented.
Whether it was really Lori Drew or not, it was one of the only places that was arguing another side to the Megan Meier story--albeit, not very effectively.
After looking over press accounts of the report yesterday by the prosecutor, we picked out what might be some items for the defense of Lori Drew in the public's mind.
They were among the reasons that Banas stated no criminal behavior had taken place among the hoaxers that he could find.
We present some salient facts. Do they argue for or against the prosecutor's decision?
Who gave the friend of Drew's daughter the password?
* A friend and employee of the Drews', Ashley Grills, who was 18 at the time, located Megan's MySpace page. The three [Lori Drew, Ashley Grills, and Drew's daughter] created Josh Evans to find out what Megan was saying about Drew's daughter.
* For six weeks, Josh and Megan traded "innocuous" messages, Banas said, with no sexual suggestion and no "demeaning or disrespectful" language sent by either.
* On Oct. 15, 2006, the day before Megan committed suicide, a friend of Drew's daughter was given the password to the Josh Evans account. The friend sent Megan a message as Josh saying he had heard Megan was mean to her friends.
Is a supervising adult responsible for the behavior of minors in her care? Hopefully, someone with a law degree will care to leave a comment or drop us an email.
MORE:* Banas said it's unclear who created the fake MySpace profile. Grills told lawyers that Drew wanted her to set up a fake profile.
* Drew, however, said her daughter and Grills came to her with the idea. Drew agreed but told the girls they should only speak to Megan "in polite terms and not say anything disrespectful," Banas said.
* Drew told the FBI she let her daughter write Megan when she was present — only once or twice.
* There is no evidence that Drew wrote a single message, Banas said.
* On the day Megan hanged herself, it was Grills who wrote the final message, Banas said.
* Until now, the story told was that Grills told a lawyer representing Megan's parents that Drew was present and that she was telling Drew what she was typing.
* But according to an FBI report, Drew said she wasn't even home when the "heated exchange" between Josh and Megan took place, Banas said.
* And that same report shows that Grills had changed her story: It wasn't Lori Drew at home, but her husband, Curt Drew.
* Curt Drew said he was home, Banas said, but unaware.
Since the Drews have remained tight-lipped on the subject--except for police and FBI reports--these are the points in their defense.
What's the verdict, dear readers? Can anyone be held responsible in no court, other than public opinion?
Should even the court of public opinion find Lori Drew innocent? Do these facts included above hold any water with the public?
Is shunning an effective tool today? Is the contempt and scorn of neighbors and business associates a form of punishment?
Or can someone just choose to ignore the icy stares and whispers that follow their daily movements? Does that make a difference? Is it a form of punishment when all else fails?
Now that the information on why the prosecutor declined to file any charges is out, did it change your minds?

Megan Meier MySpace Suicide: Conversation Between Fake Lori Drew & Internet Commenters, Part I
0 comments
Are we seeing a conversation between Lori Drew, Internet hoaxer, and hundreds of Internet surfers?
Or is this another hoax?
In either case, the reading is riveting. On one side is the author of the 'Megan Had Coming' Blog, which appeared on the weekend the Megan Meier story broke across the country.
Originally, the author identified herself as "Kristen", supposedly an acquaintance of Megan Meier, before the 13-year-old committed suicide in 2006. The author then posted, what she claimed, was a "true picture of Megan".

NOW the same blog, after largely being inactive, has another post. This one is titled "I'm Lori Drew". It purports to be from the hoax-instigating mother, Lori Drew.
Is it?
Is "Kristen" really Lori Drew?
In our earlier story, "Lori Drew, Author of 'Megan Had it Coming' blog? , we reported on the "I'm Lori Drew" post.
There are now over 800 comments to that post at Megan Had it Coming, as well as a running verbal battle between the post's author and Internet commenters.
Once again, is this Lori Drew?
We can't know if it really is or if it's the elaborate work of a "troll", claiming to be Ms. Drew.
The timing of the posts argue against a troll. If it had been someone seeking attention, rather than justification for their actions, the stories would have been posted before this--at the height of press attention and the reactionary outrage.
We present the first in a running commentary between the author claiming to be Lori Drew and her readers.

Wrong is wrong, whether or not it's technically legal. You victimized a person a quarter of your age and you feel not one iota of remorse. just relief that you won't be charged and resentment that the rest of the world won't just let it go.

You have it coming said...
You are one sick, twisted woman. Don't cry victim when you have a blog called "magen had it coming". Give me a break. You brought all of this on yourself by misleading someone who by your own admission had "issues" but you continued to do it anyway. You, your daughter, your tdmp worker all deserve whatever hard times come upon. My only regret is that your husband, if he knew nothing about it, will be guilty by association. In fact maybe he may think about divorcing you, since you yourself seem to have the same dark side that Megan had.

Kelly said... If you had been 15 when you did all this, I would have understood. I would have had the reaction I think you intended when you wrote this.
But you were not 15. You were giving a 13-year-old girl a "taste of her own medicine." Which means you, a grown woman who is supposed to help her own 13-year-old grow up, thought it was perfectly acceptable to act like a 13-year-old herself.
I think you believe that people care what Megan did, how innocent she was or was not. I don't. I think most people think there is nothing a 13-year-old girl could do that warrants a grown adult initiating a set of events intended to harass and bully her.
Your explanation is the equivalent of "a ten-year-old bully beat up my eleven-year-old on the playground, so my 35-year-old husband beat the crap out of that ten-year-old." Because you knew that Megan suffered from depression. You knew that emotionally, she was weaker than you and weaker than your daughter. Yet you chose to take advantage of that weakness, and justify that by saying "she started it."
I think you need help. Your explanation is far worse than I had anticipated. I had reserved judgment believing that perhaps you had nothing to do with the bullying. Perhaps you already felt guilt and remorse. What you wrote here is far, far worse than I could have imagined.
and by the way, people do not have to be unbalanced to destroy a foosball table that belongs to a GROWN ADULT who bullied their daughter. Unbalanced, they would have done far worse. I think they showed amazing restraint.

Anonymous said... Ok, this is the real problem. kids at that age are cruel, we all went through it, we've all seen it, we've all experienced it. You are an adult with a developed mind and the ability to understand where your actions may lead. Most 13 year olds can't think past next week let alone understand the real pain they inflict, but you can. Also to pretend to be someone else and say she "had it coming"....my god what even justifies that? Does any child deserve to be ridiculed or slandered against? No, but it happens and thats life in the awkward teenage years. Its about communication with your kids about even though what other kids say and how hurtful things are, none of it really matters. Although most teenagers think this is a line of shit, which seems like it can be at times. But on the flip side no adult or parent should ever attack any child mentally, which is what you did. You may not have typed the key strokes, but you were the mastermind behind them. Aside from the fact she was clinically depressed, something you knew. You're extremely lucky no charges will be brought, but whats worse, prison or the stigma of having the blood of a child on your hands? Guess only you will know that for the rest of your life. All the verbal attacks and actions by the community you brought on upon yourself, you made your bed and now you must lie in it. Nothing you can say will EVER sway the fact that you started a my-space page to enter into communications with a child with the sole purpose to trick her. Its to bad someone had to die, what if it was your little girl hanging in her closest...what would you do then?

If you feel badly about what happened, about the fact that a young girl took her life, that two parents lost a daughter, why would you name your blog "Megan had it coming" that sounds to me like you wanted it to happen and that you don't feel regretful that it went the way it did. If you knew the girl was unstable why would you destroy her self esteem further? You seem happy and smug about the whole situation... not like someone who made a mistake and took it too far. You should be ashamed of yourself and your children should be taken away from you so they can have someone that will teach them to live a good life instead of one of revenge and spite.
December 3, 2007 10:44 AM
Bob said... So let's get this straight. You're a mature, reasonably intelligent, presumably educated adult. You knew Megan was a mentally unstable adolescent who often displayed extreme unreasonable reactions. And you deliberately concocted a scenario that would result in this girl's public humiliation. You may not be technically guilty of murder, and Internet harassment may not be illegal in Missouri. But you certainly are guilty of intentional depraved indifference. You may not have wanted Megan to kill herself, but you clearly wanted to cause her harm. Your actions were clearly a cause that had the effect of Megan's suicide, however much you may wish to deny it. I hope no violence comes against you. However, I believe your fate will be to lose your business and your husband's, and you will be a pariah for years. And I think you deserve that fate.

You have it coming said... To state you had no direct role in Megan's suicide proves you are a sociopath. You actions of creating the Myspace account, allowing other the ability to post message from it, directly lead to Megan taking her own life.
You also seriously need parenting classes. No reasonable parent would try to dupe a 13 year old girl with the help of her daughter and a temp worker by pretending to be a 13 year old boy. Then bring others into the scam once it was exposed so they could also try to enact mob bullying. You are reaping what you have sewn.
Considering that after the suicide you tried to bury it all, deleting the Myspace account, telling people to keep quite, etc... would indicate a criminal conspiracy had certain circumstances been different.

Also, if this was all done because you had such a problem with internet bullying and rumors, then why DO internet bullying and rumors? If you thought her behavior was so wrong, then why would you do it and encourage others to also? Either lying and bullying are wrong or they are not. Everyone seems to know the answer to these questions but you.

"I DID WHAT ANY REASONABLE PARENT IN MY POSITION WOULD HAVE DONE"
No, you did not. Any reasonable parent would have told their child that relationships change and that if they were really hurt by those changes that they could come to their parent and talk about it. No reasonable parent would do the heinous things you have done, then attempt to demonize the victim and thier family, then brag about getting off scot-free.

Anonymous said... How old are you? Great work, justifying how you, as an adult, bullied a teenage girl- and not even feeling sorry at all for her death. Your daughter must be so proud of you.

Anonymous said...This latest post raises an interesting question if you are truly Lori Drew.
If your relationship with the Meier family had turned so acrimonious, why did you ask their favor in storing the Foosball table for Christmas?
That doesn't seem to add up in your "version" of the story.

Wow. You are possibly the most callous person I have ever heard about. I am amazed that you can justify your actions as a parent and adult. This is behavior that can be expected of a teenager, but for a parent, it's just sad. You set a fine example for your daughter!

No "reasonable" parents would set out to give a 13 year old girl a taste of her own medicine. Nor would a "reasonable" parent set up a blog entitled "meganhaditcoming". It's disturbing that you would ever have the lack of judgment to go through with this harassment in the first place. Perhaps it's even more disturbing that you have set about trying to justify your actions. You place the blame on Megan's mental state, but that just makes it even more horrifying that you would treat a mentally unstable child in such a cruel way. I have my doubts over the legitimacy of this blog, but if any of this is actually written by Lori Drew, I am deeply disturbed by your lack of remorse and hope that somehow justice is served.

Megan Had It Coming said... YOU PEOPLE STILL ARENT LISTENING!!!!!
Any reasonable parent would have told their child that relationships change and that if they were really hurt by those changes that they could come to their parent and talk about it.
It wasn't just a friendship going sour. Megan was systematically harassing and manipulating my daughter! Separating them was not enough. What would you have done? You can't go to the police, the other parents won't listen, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE??
I did the only thing I could do. Unfortunately, Megan chose to make this a tragedy for everyone involved by killing herself.

You knew Megan had problems or was troubled. Instead of using the fake profile to do this kind of damage why didn't you try to convince her to get help and become a better friend to those she had upset? I do not wish anything bad upon you but what goes around comes around!

YOU THINK I DIDNT TRY???? I'm not one to parent others' kids but I tried talking to Megan on several occasions when her behavior disturbed me. She blew me off. She accused me of trying to sabotage her friendship. Instead of listening, she became angry. Just like her parents.

You have it coming said... "You can't go to the police" You must be the most ignorant person capable of blogging. The police are your second step in any situation between two children after confronting the parents about any problem. But you instead resort to your own version of internet vigilantism. I said it before; you are reaping what you have sewn.
December 3, 2007 11:07 AM
Is this Lori Drew?
Surely no one could be this callow and petty.
But then, surely no one would set up an account on MySpace for the purpose of the online harassment of a 13-year-old neighbor girl she'd known was suffering from depression.
Surely, no one would file destruction of property charges against the suffering parents of the victim, upon learning of their reactionary destroying of a foosball table.
Surely.
Everyone will have their own opinion. One opinion here: it's probably Drew, if the reports of "no remorse", by neighbors who knew Drew longer and observed during the last year, are to be believed.
Maybe her advertising business is suffering from a loss of revenue and she now feels it's time to answer some of her critics.
This is Part I. More to follow.

We saw this little ratings widget at Simply Jews and it intrigued us. So we headed over to Critics Rant to check it out.
We decided to put Death By 1000 Papercuts to the test. As the title says, "What level of education is required to understand your blog?" We wanted to know!
Below is what we found out:
So now we can't get through the door because our head is swelled three sizes.
And if you are a regular reader, give yourself a pat on the back: we write to our readership. So far, no one's had any trouble reading or understanding us. Not sure how accurate the widget is, but we're not going to question it.
At least one of us ran out and bought a book on quantum mechanics.
The next time someone looks down on you for reading or commenting about Dog the Bounty Hunter. Or they think your web-surfing is low-brow stuff.
Just smile as you're walking away and mention that you read "Genius Level" articles everyday at DBKP.

You are absolutely unbelievable. An absolute piece of work. I hope you spend the rest of your life alone and destitute.
December 3, 2007 11:29 AM
I hope someday you realize that you instigated this situation. Your post did nothing but convince people that you are ruthless and immature. You hurt someone. And she was so hurt that she ended her life. One of my family members committed suicide, and it is something that I will never cope with. It's not a car accident, it's not cancer....someone was so SAD and helpless that they took their own life. You need to realize that you pushed someone that was vulnerable!
December 3, 2007 11:29 AM
Having conversations that were sexual for a 13 year old? How is that monitoring for cyberbulling?
GODDAMN YOU I AM SO SICK OF THIS LIE! I didn't engage in anything sexual. Megan tried to initiate sex talk and I backed away from it. I NEVER ENGAGED IN ANYTHING LIKE THAT. So stop spreading this lie.
December 3, 2007 11:29 AM
It's not fair to put that on me. I didn't know Megan would kill herself. No one suspected Megan would kill herself. If you blame me then you have to blame Megan's parents, too. They were closer to Megan. THEY WERE HER PARENTS. And she still managed to kill herself. What does that say? Does it say they're bad parents, too? No. It says that no one could have predicted Megan's suicide. Not Tina, not Ron, not me.
Lori, a drunken driver does not intentionally set out to kill a carload of prom going teens. He is just driving home. That doesn't make him any less responsible.

Heavy makeout sessions? Not a lie, honey. You may not want to see it this way...but it doesn't change what it was.
December 3, 2007 11:31 AM
Okay--place the suicide completely aside for now.
You baited and misled a depressed 13-year-old for weeks, eventually culminating in an emotional collapse.
Murderer? No, you're a torturer.
December 3, 2007 11:31 AM
Fine, you didn't mean to kill her? Do drunk drivers mean to kill people?
It doesn't matter if your malicious intent was to just make her miserable or to push her off the edge, you still did it. Show some regret you heartless woman.
December 3, 2007 11:32 AM
You not only victimized a girl who is the same age as your own daughter, you victimized someone who you KNEW was suffering from mental illness. What's wrong with you???? You are a child abuser...I just have to wonder how innocent your daughter really is, was she being bullied by other CHILDREN, was she an innocent victim, or does she take after you? Kids have a way of working out their differences for themselves, it's a part of growing up....are you going to fight all her battles for her, pick her husband for her, sleep with him too? You are a dangerous woman and no child should ever be allowed near you...including your own! The high school called Mrs Drew, they want their robe back..your youth is over, you can't get it back living through your daughter!

I'm very sorry for your loss, but you have to understand that Megan suffered from clinical depression for which she took medication. Her depression wasn't psychological, it was chemical. That means there is truly no way to know WHY she killed herself. Maybe it was the final myspace comments. Maybe it was her own mother ignoring her. Maybe she skipped her medication recently. Maybe that FDA warning that anti-depressants can have suicidal effects on children and teens should have come out a couple of months earlier. You can't place blame on others when someone commits suicide.

Lori, a drunken driver does not intentionally set out to kill a carload of prom going teens. He is just driving home. That doesn't make him any less responsible.
Bingo.
Do you want the world to stop hating you?
Apologize, instead of defending yourself through pointing the blame at a 13-year-old. Apologize to the Meiers. Admit that you were wrong, horribly, terribly wrong, and that had you acted like an adult, none of this would have happened.
That's a start.
December 3, 2007 11:35 AM
You baited and misled a depressed 13-year-old for weeks, eventually culminating in an emotional collapse.
DID YOU NOT READ THE PART WHERE I TRIED TO LET HER DOWN EASY? You don't know it was an emotional collapse. No one can know why Megan killed herself. Maybe it was the myspace comments. Maybe it was the cold reaction from her own parents. Maybe it was her medication. YOU DON'T KNOW SO STOP PUTTING IT ON ME.
December 3, 2007 11:35 AM
Lori, you are delusional. You've spent six weeks trying to come up with a way to justify your sociopathic, vindictive behavior, and this is the best you can do?
Lame. Just plain lame.
It's all lies; delusional lies that you tell yourself so that you can sleep at night. You're mad at the world? Is that what you said? And to retaliate against the world, you right a blog called "Megan Had It Coming" and you call the child a slut?
Lame, lame, lame.
You really are a child predator. They always blame the victim, too. "That two year old SEDUCED ME. I had no choice but to molest her."
Megan was posting annonymous stuff through OTHER PEOPLES blogs? But you JUST KNEW IT WAS HER?? She's a demon seed....she's a slut...she's a BAD GIRL!
You are a deviant.
Have a shitty rest of your life. And your little dog, too.
December 3, 2007 11:35 AM
Letting her down easy would have been to just say, sorry, can't be friends anymore, or sorry, I'm moving away, or to just delete the account altogether. Instead, you had to be mean about it.
I don't think you intended to let her down easy at all.
December 3, 2007 11:36 AM
You can't be this stupid....really.
December 3, 2007 11:37 AM
a drunken driver does not intentionally set out to kill a carload of prom going teens. He is just driving home. That doesn't make him any less responsible.
This isn't like driving drunk. It's not even close. I worked to PROTECT MY DAUGHTER FROM A CYBER BULLY. There's was no way to know that Megan would kill herself. None. Not even the Meiers could predict or prevent it and they were HER PARENTS.
I'm not a murderer.
December 3, 2007 11:37 AM
What could have possibly possessed you to start this blog? I realize that you have serious mental problems, but where is your husband or your lawyer?
Is there no function adult in your life who is there to tell you how entirely ill-advised this blog is?

You admit you knew she was depressed. How sad for you.
Lori, you aren't helping. Say sorry to them! Say sorry to your family. Say you are sorry to Ashley.
It is wrong, and she is gone. You didn't delete the account after it got sexual. You didn't do it. You didn't walk away. You kept going.
You are modeling this behavior for your very impressionable daughter. Teach her to own up to her mistakes. Be a good mom, and show her how you can take responsibility for her words and deeds. Be a good mom, and show your daughter the right way to do it.
