DBKP did a survey that was published on July 9th 2008 regarding the the construction of Christian churches in Muslim countries. In discussing Saudi Arabia, it was noted "No Christian churches are allowed. The open practice of Christianity is punishable by death." (Survey: how Easy is it To Build a Christian Church in a Muslim Country). Therefore, when the following headline from Middle East News popped up on a newscan, it was routinely bookmarked for referral to the editor to see if it was worthy of an Update.
Saudi Mutaween Cuts Out His Daughter’s Tongue, Then Burns Her Alive
Then the story was wiped; erased from the Middle East News. The page did not suddenly go down: it was simply blank.
Fortunately Weasel Zippers (Saudi "Honor Killing": Muslim Father Cuts out Daughters Tongue, Burns her Alive for Converting to Christianity...... ), a blog that emphasizes jihad and the idiosyncrasyies of Islam had copied the story. So here is the horrendous story:
A Saudi man working with the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice recently killed his daughter for converting to Christianity.
According to sources close to the victim, the religious police member had cut the tongue of the girl and burned her to death following a heated debate on religion.
"The death of the girl sent shockwaves, and websites where the victim used to write with various nicknames have allocated special space to mourn her, while some others closed temporarily in protest.
According to the Saudi Al Ukhdoud news website, the victim wrote an article on the blog of which she was a member under the nickname "Rania" a few days before her murder.
She said that her brother found some Christian articles written by her as well as a cross sign on her computer screen.Since then he started to insult her and blamed the Internet for pushing her to change her religion.
The "Free Copts" website published a message which it received from a friend of the victim, revealing that the killer is in police custody and that he is being investigated for an honour related crime.
Saudi religious scholars have frequently warned against the dangers of Christian internet websites and satellite TV channels which attract Muslim youngsters to change their religion.
They decreed that watching these channels or browsing these websites which call for conversion to Christianity by various means is against the teachings of Islam."
Another full account was reported in The Gulf News, which appears to have produced the first English translation of the sorry tale. Other than once again demonstrating the misogynistic, bigoted barbarity and sheer madness that characterizes Islam, we wonder if these events portend something else: a realization by Muslims that the rest of the world reads or views Islamic behavior with disbelief and disgust. That 'with the Internet, the Mainstream Media blackout on Muslim antics has been bypassed. That the desperate pleas of those that live under this barbarous cult can now occasionally be heard and Islam exposed for what it is, instead of the Religion Of Peace nonsense espoused by Washington and London.
In other words, are some Muslims embarrassed by what they have become?

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) wants to criminalize Christianity at the U.N.
--By Dr. Laurie Roth Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Since 1999, the OIC has been pushing with the U.N the ‘Defamation of Islam’ campaign. The OIC isn’t a small fry committee trying to be heard in the U.N., but is being pushed by the 57, Muslim nation members in it and reflects the Declaration of Human Rights in Islam which is only reflected by Sharia law. That is how they want human rights defined and filtered through, Sharia law.
What is it the OIC exactly wants and is pushing through the U.N.? Its actually quite clear when reading through even a little of this rubbish. On the surface they say they want to cover the defamation of all religions, but amazingly only one religion is mentioned by name as persecuted of sorts, Islam. According to Patrick Goodenough, International Editor, CNSNews.com, the text states they have “deep concern that Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism.”
They refer to that nasty mental illness that so many of us have, Islamaphobia, when we happen to in our hate and illness notice the forced sexual mutilations, beheadings, forced conversions, honor killings growing in America, buildings continuing to blow up, body parts continuing to fly past our windows and ongoing threats. Take more medication you mentally ill, hateful people. Don’t you know that real, international, religious freedom must submit to the wonder and edification of Shari Law?
The way this anti protection of religion and freedom piece of rot reads would only criminalize Christianity and push the execution of more Christians who are already being sentenced to prison and death for reading the wrong material, mentioning a verse to a Muslim or doing practically anything that might engage a real discussion in a Muslim country with a Muslim.
"Lets call this what it is. This aggressive effort of the OIC to slam this through the U.N and get the defamation piece approved by the U.N. itself is nothing but a declaration of War against freedom of speech internationally and Christianity."
"Radical Islam will not stop until it takes over our legal system, our cultures, our moral framework, the U.N., our school curriculums and our lives if necessary. I say a big fat NO to Radical Islam. Come and Kiss My Grits!"
The official Palestinian news agency on the evening of 13 July carries several reports on meetings PNA President Mahmud Abbas held today with international leaders on the sidelines of the Union for the Mediterranean in Paris.
Abbas held meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Cypriot President Dhimitrios Khristofias, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Abbas discussed with them "issues pertaining to the Middle East area and briefed them on the efforts to advance the peace process and the situation in the Palestinian territories."
At 1309, the agency reports that Abbas also met with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and briefed him on "the latest developments in the peace process and the obstacles it faces in light of the continuation of settlement activity in the Palestinian territories and the measures in occupied Jerusalem."

Forty years ago can seem like light years in cultural terms.
Forty years ago, the story of a Vermont lesbian who wanted to take a child away from her biological mother--because the mother was a Christian--would have been unbelievable.
Janet Jenkins, part of a now-sundered lesbian twosome, has alleged that because of Lisa Miller’s (the biological mother) Christian parenting practices, Miller is no longer is a fit mother. Jenkins is seeking full custody of the child.
Miller and Jenkins were a couple before Miller left the relationship and became a Christian. Now, the Virginia Supreme Court has to rule if 6-year-old Isabella, Miller's child, is to be ripped away from her and custody given to Jenkins.
Mathew Staver, chief of Liberty Counsel, said the impact of the decision will reach far beyond the important determination of the future for the child in question, also impacting states' sovereignty and the values on which Christian parents make decisions.
Staver said that the wrong ruling could set Isabella up to be "paraded as a political trophy of the homosexual community in Vermont".
"This case is exceptionally important because the future of [the child] Isabella hangs in the balance," he said. "Her future will be to either remain with her biological mother, Lisa Miller, or potentially be ripped away from her mom and placed in a lesbian household… This case is also important because states must also have the sovereign authority to maintain their marriage policy as the union of one man and one woman, while rejecting same-sex unions. Virginia's Constitution compels the state supreme court to not recognize out-of-state, same-sex marriages and civil unions.
"But if Virginia loses its sovereignty, then the sovereignty of every other state is put in jeopardy," he said.

Vermont's Supreme Court already granted parental rights and visitation to Jenkins. Miller and Isabella live in Virginia and Miller has gone to the Virginia Supreme to defend her right to raise her own daughter as she sees fit.
"This hearing will determine whether a lesbian woman who is Lisa Miller's former partner will share custody of Isabella, Lisa's daughter," wrote Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues at Concerned Women for America. "The woman is neither an adoptive parent nor is she biologically related to Isabella. In fact, she's a total stranger to the little girl.
"Isabella, who is now 6 years old, hadn't seen this woman since she was 17 months old. This case could have national ramifications and will help decide whether states like Vermont and Massachusetts get to export their radical new definitions of marriage and family around the country," Barber said.
The relationship ended when Miller became a Christian and claimed Jenkins was abusive. Miller, who says she no longer is a lesbian, lives with her daughter in Virginia.

Lower courts in Virginia have ruled Miller is the sole parent and the Virginia Marriage Affirmation Act bars recognition of civil unions. The Vermont Supreme Court, however, reached across state lines to demand that Miller allow Jenkins visitation.
Jenkins alleges that Miller's Christianity is unhealthy and harmful to Isabella
"That's true. Janet Jenkins, in court documents in Vermont, argued because Lisa prays for her daughter and her well-being, and even prays for Janet, that in fact that is not in the best interests of Isabella. She [Jenkins] says because Lisa prays for her daughter, and tells her she's praying to do God's will, Janet has taken the position that … Christianity is harmful to children," Staver told WorldNetDaily.
As pat sums the whole case up: "The woman attempting to gain custody is not the mother in any sense, nor does she pay child support. The 'bad' parenting alleged is the practice of Christianity. The Vermont Court asserts authority over both parties because a 'civil union' was contracted there. The birth and residency of the child was never in Vermont. This case appears to be setup to void traditional 'best interest of the child' standards in favor of 'whatever a gay person wants'"
Forty years ago, the idea that a lesbian could seek to declare a mother unfit because of her desire to raise her daughter as a Christian would have been laughable.
It would be laughable still, if it weren't for the unrelenting legal push for increased rights and privileges for "lifestyle" choices.
Once a particular "lifestyle" is given favored status, what logic would prevent other "lifestyles" from gaining legal standing.
Pedophilia already has its champion in NAMBLA. It's only a matter of time until the North American Man Boy Love Association files suit, alleging discrimination against its "lifestyle".
Or long-suffering farm animal lovers file suit, seeking to extend legal protections to bestiality.
That this discussion is even taking place is viewed by some as a sign of our country's "progressiveness". Others view it as a sign of our culture's degeneration.
Forty years, the Vermont Supreme Court would have explained to Janet Jenkins that there is a reason for civilization's disdain for her "lifestyle"--and most of the reasons had to do with the well-being of children and society at large.
Forty years ago, America would not have been in danger of having a few states with radical courts forcing their decisions on the rest of the country.
Forty years ago sometimes seems forever ago in cultural terms.

B.C., the comic strip turns 50 years old today.
A half-century for a comic strip is a pretty good length of time: most comics never get off the ground; those that do: some die with their creators, some die before that.
Now, in the entire scheme of comic strips, we only rate two strips as being in the Super Excellent Category: Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side, neither which is being drawn anymore.
B.C. always ranked below that--in the "pleasant to read with the occasional really funny strip" category--along with Wizard of Id and Shoe and later, Fox Trot and Dilbert. Of the one-panel strips, Bizarro was in that category.
But, with comics so god-awful these days, B.C. is an old reliable.
From Wikipedia:
B.C. is an American newspaper comic strip created in 1958, written and drawn by Johnny Hart until his 2007 death. It is set in prehistoric times, featuring a group of cavemen and anthropomorphic animals from a variety of geologic eras.
It is among the longest-running strips done by its original creator, having appeared daily in newspapers since February 17, 1958. Hart died last year.
Both Hart's daughter Perri Hart and his grandson Mason Mastroianni were involved with the strip prior to his death and have taken over the drawing and writing duties, with contributions by Mick Mastroianni. It is syndicated by Creators Syndicate.
One of the things that made B.C. such a "steady" strip was its regular cast of characters.
It became the three-panel equivalent to a solid sit-com.
The regular human characters in the strip are:
* BC, a caveman.
* Peter, a philosopher, founder of the Prehistoric Pessimists Society and the Column of Truth.

* Clumsy Carp, a spectacle-wearing conservationist clumsy enough to trip over a beach.
* Curls, a highly cynical individual.
* Thor, inventor of the wheel, the well, the rake, the comb, and many other things.

* Wiley, an unshaven, woman-fearing, water-hating, one-legged poet, and manager of the local baseball team.
* Grog, a wild man with a one-word vocabulary and enough strength to knock the sun out of the sky using a golf ball.

* Fat Broad, a fat, bossy, and muscular cavewoman who enjoys clobbering snakes
* Cute Chick, a beautiful, blonde cavewoman
There are also regular animal characters. They are:
* The early bird and the early worm (who likes to sleep in while the early bird freezes his beak off waiting for him to emerge).
* The woodpecker, Wiley's worst enemy.
* The tortoise and the bird, inseparable friends.
* Maude, an ant with a smart-alec son, and a quarrelsome husband who is always threatening to run off with Shirley.
* The Queen Ant, an unfeeling and abusive dictator.

* Various other ants, including a schoolteacher and her students.
* The anteater (up to four of them appear at once).
* The purple-bellied dingwhopper, the last of its species.
* The dinosaur.
* The clams, talking clams with legs.
* The snake, the Fat Broad's worst enemy.
* The apteryx (kiwi), a "wingless bird with hairy feathers" (as he introduces himself).
Our four favorites: the ants, the Fat Broad clubbing the snake, Grog, the tortoise and the bird. Wiley, the peg-legged, one-eyed poet baseball manager was fifth.

One of the things that elevated B.C.--in our minds, anyway--was its refusal to knuckle under to Political Correctness. Hart always would slip in a strip which evoked howls from the PC crowd.
Usually, those comic strips had to do with his primitive characters expressing "primitive thoughts" on a primitive--to the secular atheist crowd--subject: Christianity.

Though other strips such as The Family Circus and Hart's own The Wizard of Id regularly include Christian themes, B.C. strips have been pulled from comics pages on several occasions due to editorial perception of religious favoritism or overt proselytizing.
Easter strips in 1996 and 2001, for example, have prompted editorial reaction from a handful of U.S. newspapers, chiefly the Los Angeles Times and written and verbal responses from Jewish and Muslim groups. The American Jewish Committee termed the Easter 2001 strip, which depicted the last words of Jesus Christ and a menorah transforming into a cross, "religiously offensive" and "shameful."
The Los Angeles Times now relegates strips which its editorial staff deems objectionable to the religion pages, instead of the regular comics pages.
But let's forget the controversy: today is the 50th birthday of the first B.C. comic.
As we said, it wasn't one of our top two, but we still have quite a soft spot for it. And, from time-to-time, it resists the blandness imposed by the forces of PC on most comics today.
B.C.'s creator, Johnny Hart was only a little short of 10 months short of celebrating the event: Hart died on April 7, 2007 after suffering a stroke at his home in Nineveh, New York.
But B.C. lives on, as do the many characters created by Hart that populate the stone-age strip.
Happy 50th Birthday, B.C.!
