A Tip for the New York Times?
DBKP, in order to keep the public properly informed, scans many dozens of articles, papers, and news referrals a day. As such, we here at DBKP are in a particularly good position to note patterns. And an interesting pattern has emerged: the English media are obsessed with Boobs.
No, not idiots.
Boobs as in breasts.
Yes! Another Boobs story!
Everyone, I would guess, is aware of the English tabloids "Page Three" girls. These are partially nude women within the papers, designed to attract male customers who do not wish to read, but whose vision is normal. It must work because the models are paid well and the Tabloids move off the stand. It is an approach the New York Times might try. It sure beats photo shopped pictures of Obama with a halo.
But we have noticed something else. The English newspapers, under the bare pretense of breaking news, also write about boobs . A lot. And the bigger, the better. As an example, this trio of leads in The Daily Mail, which is a very good paper, caught our attention,
Bra bust as M&S accused of 'levying tax on bigger breasts'
I've got to get this off my chest!
The treadmill test that measures the bounce in your bosomThis treasure trove of boobography was compiled from a selection of articles from a mere two weeks or so, and is representative rather than exhaustive. In other words, there is a lot more. And all articles, which are long and generally well written, are heavily pictured to help us understand the problems of women with large and very attractive busts.
--from Tax on Bigger Breasts
Speaking of a lot, that is something all the articles have in common. They seem to fixate around large breasts. Hardly a thought is given to the As and Bs of the British citizenry. Whether it be the poor attitude of bra peddlers, as in the first cited article:
"...Marks & Spencer has angered those customers with a lot of cleavage... by starting to charge extra for bigger-sized bras....
But members of a new group on the social networking site Facebook called Busts 4 Justice have stopped buying full-priced bras from the store in protest. Its founder Beckie Williams, a 25-year-old children's writer from Brighton, said: 'It is like having a tax on bigger breasts. I hover on the brink of where the bras get more expensive so I noticed the difference in price.'I started trying to cram myself into the smaller sizes and realised that it was ridiculous..."
Or
Shopping for bras as in the next, the full chested girls lord it over the rest in a sort of backhanded way.
All women want a big bust, don't they? You must be joking, says ERIN KELLY. Bigger busts need bigger bras, and shopping for them has always been a nightmare. And now it's more expensive, too...I take a 32G, the same bra size as the pneumatic model Jordan. My breasts just turned up, almost overnight, when I was about 13. Ever since, they have increased incrementally but constantly, like rising sea levels.""I don't see them charging extra material for the inch-thick wedge of foam that pads the AA cups, so why should I pay more for the extra lace on my plus-size bra?"
Heh, heh,heh.
Speaking of Erin Kelly, she is the official specialist at the Daily News. The resident Cleavologist, as it were. And she knows of what she writes.

(Erin Kelly and her 32 Gs)
So we were pleased to read that Erin would be tackliing the last story.
The treadmill test that measures the bounce in your bosom
It seems that there is an academic department called the Breast Biomechanics Team at the University of Portsmouth. And Erin decided she would see what pointers they might have for her. so...
"I was going to put my money where my mouth is and offer myself as a guinea pig to the department, taking their infamous 'treadmill test', whereby women run on a treadmill and high-tech cameras, linked to computers, measure the distance that their breasts move as they run...A treadmill stands before a backdrop of a black curtain, five cameras pointing at it. This high-tech 'bounce-o-meter' is where 50 other women have run before me, and where I'm about to go for the most unusual - and possibly humiliating - jog of my life."
"I already wish I'd never come here, but the knowledge that 50 other women, many with boobs bigger than mine - 32G since you ask - have already taken up this challenge, spurs me on. I strip to the waist and clamber onto the treadmill. The only shock absorber I'm now wearing is the gel in my trainers"
So Erin bravely tackled what is known as the Jiggleometer here at DBKP and no matter how often we called Erin refused to share any of those 5 tapes with us.
But we are confident that Erin will again take on this challenging subject. And when she does, we shall helpfully report on the same.
Oh, and , if the New York Times had any brains whatsoever, they might learn that scholarship sells papers, not rank opinion.

So What Gives With Sweden?
Wandering through The Local, Sweden's News In English, (The Local), sharp DBKP researchers and bottom feeders of interesting news, find the following grouping of headlines.
. Handcuffed Lovers Freed By Police
http://www.thelocal.se/12450
- Mum avoids conviction for tongue kissing her son (12 Jun 08)
- Swedish teen girls have more sex with one another (30 May 08)
- Kinky Swedish mums want more sex (16 May 08)
In the first story for instance, we learn that ..."The couple called the police after their sex game had left them in a tricky situation as their keys failed to open their handcuffs and they were left locked to each each other.
Police needed the help of bolt-cutters to pry the pair apart."

Cell Phone Finger Cuffs: so you can call for help.
OK, accidents like that can happen to anybody. I mean, it is not like, in the heat of the moment, one would actually check to see if the keys to the cuffs fit before trying them on. It is not as if the overheated couple would actually ask the store clerk to put them on first.
Easy come, easy go.
But, "There was a further man in the apartment when the police arrived. He had been trying to help the couple out of their bind, but had been unable to force the handcuffs open. " Now that is disturbing.
You are having your neighborhood threesome, and the totally unnecessary third wheel to this bike, can't go get a pair of damn bolt-cutters so you don't end up on the front page of a national newspaper.

Third Wheel
Then there are the Kinky Swedish Mums who Want More Sex. This rather shocking article makes it clear that Swedish mums seem to be a bit sex-starved.
"Apparently, 43 percent of mums under the age of 29 own a dildo and almost 28 percent of those questioned in the Mama survey have checked out online porn.
... 39 percent of the Swedish mums surveyed have had anal sex and 23 percent fantasize about other men or women during sexual intercourse. 37 percent of the younger mums (under age 29) have had lesbian fantasies. 2 percent have had group sex and 23 percent of mums under the age of 29 use handcuffs as part of sex play."
(Note, check out key first).

Not to be crass, but this explains in extreme detail why Sweden has a population growth rate--including immigration--of 1%: 50% less than that needed for sustaining their population. This is half of that of their American cousins, who apparently know that those forms of sex are going to bring that stork home.
No more than the mom who French-kissed her son--and had him breast feeding a 6 year old. All a misunderstanding there, mate. As the mom said:
“Is it not allowed to give children some love without the risk of [going to court].”
All in unison! Ewwwwww.

Speaking of Ewwww:
"More teenage girls than boys have had sex with someone of the same gender", according to a new dissertation from the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg.
“I work at the youth health centre and asked the staff there what they thought before I told them about the results. They answered right away that there are more girls,” she said.
“It was 6.1 percent of the girls who answered that they had had sex with someone of the same gender, while 1.7 percent of boys said the same thing,” Rembeck explained."
Now we are talking shortfall here.
Like a serious shortfall for the boys who have a rate of homosexuality a bit below that found in most international studies, 2%,( not the 10% frequently quoted by the Mainstream Media or the 50% according to Hollywood). But to see the best girls get swept away by the kinky mums of Sweden, that hurts.

Now that hurts.

Local Moms Abuzz with the News

Well it almost makes sense.
Sort of. Bit of body lotion and a new vibrator for the young mother. Oh, and the kids can stroll about.
You would think a sex shop might not go over well in a neighborhood with lots of families and small children. But as CBS 2 HD found out, there's an adult store in Park Slope that's about to open where mothers and their young children are welcome."
"Now you might think a a mother would have more sense than to drag her young kids into a sex shop. But you would be entirely wrong.
So what do parents think?
"There's room for everybody, so I don't object to it," Corrine Rodriguez said.
"I have two little girls, 4 and 5, (and) I'm actually totally OK with it," Sue Gilad said. "I think this is a part of life."
"I actually think it's really fun and cool, now I don't have to go to the West Village," another mother said with a laugh"

Early sex education used to consist of naked Barbie and Ken and some vague explanations of how the dog had puppies. "And by the way it's more fun than it looks. Now don't you have something to do?"
Now we are given the distasteful thought of a sales clerk explaining the big blow-up doll with the real looking peepee and mom's endless fascination with the Hitachi Magic Wand.
Wonderful. Real motherhood in action.
Not.

Magic Attic.
The book series--Magic Attic, owned by Marie Osmond--was found to list a number in the back of the books leading to a phone sex line. Unusual combination: childrens' books and phone sex? The story at one library from the Tampa Bay Online:Hillsborough County librarians spent much of Tuesday tracking down a series of children's books that referred readers to a telephone sex line.
Patricia MacMartin discovered the faulty phone number when her 9-year-old daughter asked to dial the 800 number in the back of her Magic Attic Club book. She notified library officials and when they didn't remove the books, she checked out every Magic Attic book available from her local branch, the New Tampa Regional Library.
"She did the right thing," said Braulio Colon, spokesman for the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. "We dropped the ball; no question."
The Magic Attic series, which is coordinated with play dolls, includes more than 30 titles targeting girls between the ages of 9 and 12. It was launched in 1994 and was sold in 2001 to entertainer Marie Osmond. The company folded in 2004, and the books are out of print.
A spokeswoman for Osmond said her doll company is not responsible for the book club number. "That product line was discontinued four years ago," she said. "There was nothing we could do. The phone company resold the number."
MacMartin said she understands Osmond's position but believes the publisher still holds some responsibility.
"You can still buy these books on Amazon," she said. "It would be different if you called the number and it was a bank or something."
Colon said Hillsborough County libraries have 78 Magic Attic books, which have been in circulation since 1998. Some of the books refer readers to a different phone number, which has been disconnected.
"There are several authors associated with the Magic Attic Club," he said. "We're working tirelessly to find them all. There's nothing inappropriate with the books. We're just going to tear out the page that has the phone number for the book club."
Some attic, magic or not.

Bill Clinton let sex interfere in the carrying out of his Presidential duties? Others, including departed ex-president Gerald Ford, took notice of it? And this is news?
Marketing types at book publishing houses have to drum up business and reporters have to report on something. So Bill Clinton's habits are back in the news. Ford not only had thoughts on Bill Clinton's sex addiction, but also on dumping Dick Cheney. More about Ford's musings from the New York Daily News:
Gerald Ford was disturbed by Bill Clinton's skirt-chasing ways - and thought he should check into a sex addiction clinic.
A new book on the late 38th President reveals he had strong views about the Clintons: He thought Hillary wore the pants and that Bill couldn't keep his zipped.
"He's sick - he's got an addiction. He needs treatment," Ford told Daily News Washington Bureau Chief Thomas M. DeFrank, author of "Write It When I'm Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with Gerald R. Ford."
Also weighing in on the subject was CNN, which had obtained an advance copy of "Write It When I'm Gone," and interviewed author Thomas DeFrank. More from CNN:
Ford privately gave New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton high marks, saying she was "tougher and stronger" than her husband, who Ford said he had mixed feelings about, DeFrank said. One suspects the thought might have occurred to more than just Ford. Ford then voiced his concern on Vice-President Dick Cheney.
While Ford thought Bill Clinton was the best pure politician he had ever seen, he felt Clinton needed therapy for sex addiction.
"He thought Bill Clinton had a serious addiction here and he needed help," DeFrank told CNN. "And Jerry Ford didn't have a vengeful bone in his body. I think his comments about the addiction business were heartfelt on his part."
Former President Gerald Ford suggested to a reporter in 2004 that Vice President Dick Cheney should be dumped from the Republican ticket, according to a new book to be published Tuesday.Somewhere in the New York Times building, a lightbulb goes on over the head of a certain columnist.
Ford preferred former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani because he feared Cheney had become a "liability" to President Bush, according to the book's author.
Ford revealed that people within the Republican party had called him inquiring if there was a move afoot to dump Cheney from the ticket.Pictures of Maureen Dowd jumping up-and-down in glee while trying to pen her next Evil Dick Cheney column could not be obtained. The book is sure to be worth another thread in the web Dowd continuously weaves in her attempts to snare the despicable, despisable, detestable, disgusting Dick Cheney.
"Ford said to me, 'And they asked me the question in a way that makes it sound like they want me to help make that happen, which I'm not gonna do,'" DeFrank recalled Ford telling him.
"Ford loved Dick Cheney till the day he died. He loved Dick Cheney. And he was not going to be part of a cabal to get rid of Cheney."
Gerald Ford had a lot of opinions, it seemed. Ones he wanted told after he was gone. And they say: Dead men tell no tales?

A Grim Fairy Tale? Or just another "WTF?!? Moment" on the Internet?
The incredibly odd story of a man making out with a--bicycle? More from the Telegraph:
Previous sex with inanimate objects?
A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle.
How do you have sex with a bicycle?
Robert Stewart was discovered in his room by two cleaners at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr, south west Scotland, in October last year.
On Wednesday Mr Stewart admitted to sexual breach of the peace in Ayr Sheriff Court, where depute fiscal Gail Davidson described how he had been found by the hostel workers.
She said: "They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply.
"They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white T-shirt, naked from the waist down.
"The accused was holding the bike and moving his hips back and forth as if to simulate sex."
Both witnesses, who were extremely shocked, notified the hotel manager, who in turn alerted the police.
Mr Stewart was placed on the sex offenders’ register but his sentence was deferred until next month.
He is not the first man to be convicted of a sexual offence involving an inanimate object, however.
Karl Watkins, an electrician, was jailed for having sex with pavements in Redditch, Worcs, in 1993.
One hopes he didn't have to spring for dinner and movie first.
